The beginning of Christmas

67f82366 The beginning of Christmas

Two of my favorite things; Aaron standing by our tree!

Now that thanksgiving is over, it’s only a few short weeks until christmas arrives! Me and the boyfriend took his nephew with us to go shop for a christmas tree. I’ve never had a real tree at my house before because I’ve always had the silly notion that a grouchy bird or squirrel might come flying out at me when least expected. Also, my cousins had one many years ago but I swear it was only 4 feet at the most and had but a few branches on it…I really wasn’t all that impressed. But the one we settled on was an 8-9 foot noble fir which was very plump and symmetrical so that got me excited about bringing it home to decorate the good-looking shrub. =D

Christmas memories

My first fond memory as a child was when my mom decided one year to wrap some presents for us. I was soo overjoyed and couldn’t wait to see what new doll I was getting. I was a sneaky kid and even ransacked my mom’s room to take a peek at my long anticipated present only to be completely devastated when I saw that it was only mittens and a scarf. lol, serves me right I got all my boohooing and disappointment out of the way so it prepared me for when I opened it in front of my mom…I’m glad I had a conscience at that young age and knew better not to make her feel badly she couldn’t afford what we wanted, I am a good kid after all mom! hehe

Another cherished Christmas moment is when my brothers finally got married and their wives got us real christmas presents for the first time…I got like 3 pairs of earrings and I treasured them for a long time afterwards. hehe.

I also remember my older sister would always decorate her tree quite beautifully and I mean new ornaments every year and selecting them with a theme in mind, not just digging out the same old silver and gold globes and tinsel…BORING!! That’s why I’m giving the boyfriend a hard time about how the tree should be trimmed because it makes a big difference in prestentation; I want it to look especially nice because we will be taking lots of pictures this year on our new camera, bastard!

Trimming the tree

The kids insisted on helping put on the ornaments even though I was reluctant to let them since there were sharp paper clips dangling from the ornaments but there weren’t any mishaps and it was very cute looking over to see them hard at work. The punk boyfriend eventually got into it as well and helped the kids hang the decorations on the top of the tree, now that’s the spirit baby!

The tree is yet unfinished, we still need some nice big globes and ribbons to dress it up a bit more so I’ll have to do another update when the tree is complete, hopefully I’ll have a present or two under there too!

The picture below is cool because we set the shutter speed on the camera to 15 seconds and Aaron just happened to run down the stairs at the same time…see that ghostly figure at the top of the stairs, instant spooky photo! Now when I see photos like this, I can be even more skeptical than I was before, haha!

Hi Kay, just dropping by to read your blogs. I luv that picture of Ty’s nephew running down
the stairs! It’s awsome…well, I went out and got myself a Sony DSLR-100. It’s pretty cool. Alot better then my regular Sony DSCH…Although it tends to make noises…but I luv it. I just got it on Sunday night. Did some test shoot on Selina and Annie when they were over (see myspace page). It’s not too bad but yet it could be alot better. I think once I play with it some more, I should be able to ace all the functions on that baby!!! Take care!

Thanks nyab! The easy part was making them look good, the hard part was getting them to sit still but I’ve seen it done before, now your daughter Paris, she’s a natural! hehe….Sometimes the camera is harder to figure out than a Rubik cube so good luck with the camera, can’t wait to see your progress!!

I was wondering where the heck this was since no one here in their right mind would be wearing a t-shirt to go pick out a tree. It wasn’t until I read your comments that I realized…”DUH, she’s in CA!” LOL. I’m such a dork. BTW, the tree looks lovely! We just put ours up this past weekend as well.
