The Photo Book (our adaptation of The Notebook)

“She glances at the photo, and the pilot light of memory flickers in her eyes.”
-Frank Deford

Have any of you seen The Notebook? All of you must have: dragged, blindfolded, or guilt-tripped into it I’m sure but you have to admit, it was gooood. Disturbingly enough, I sometimes suffer from short term memory (or do I? I can’t remember) so this movie was dreadfully close to my own version of old age…maybe not, my mom has her moments but she’s mostly still sane. =)

A lot people live with Alzheimer’s disease so I thought the movie was a great reminder to make memories with your loved ones while you can and take a lot of pictures for visual reminders because it might come down to, I won’t believe it till I see it (pwned!). =p

So since me and my bf are such picture hoarders, our rendition will include The Photo Book .

“Look at this with me, and I’ll come back to you.”

My personal christmas wishes

Our Christmas card photo we sent out this year!

“At Christmas, all roads lead home.”
-Marjorie Holmes

Since I have family and friends who so diligently (right?!) read my blog I would just like to take this time to express my heartfelt wishes for a warm and happy holiday.

To my family, I would not be half the person I am today without your love and support: I miss you the most this Christmas.

To friends, old and new, there were many times when my spirits were down and you helped to pick me up: I thank you and appreciate you most this Christmas.

To my love, your constant faith and commitment and your enjoyment of life’s humble offerings is what I admire you for: I am most grateful to have you as my ‘intimate friend’ this Christmas. =d

And to all my readers, Happy Holidays and come back to visit soon: you are most welcome here this Christmas! ahah

Can’t get enough of christmas

Home Holidays & Traditions
A seasonal store that specializes in collectibles, handcrafted one-of-a-kind ornaments, personalized stockings and complimentary personalization of ornaments.

I happened to stop (more like, skidded to a halt) at this store last weekend and couldn’t help oggling the beautiful Christmas displays. Some might say the trees are overdone but I personally would rather have an over-the-top-all-fancy-like tree than a barren one, see for yourself.

Calm down you minimalists, ugly and barren is not to be mistaken for those wanting a nice and simple look: a few strategically placed lights and ornaments is acceptable and therefore can still be considered….not ugly. =D

Christmas is here, Merry Christmas!

Cutie Santa Baby
Actually, Christmas came early for the kids this year and they got to open their presents on Sunday. I remember when I was a kid and had high hopes that Santa would come and give me something, anything….but all I got was a reality check. =/

It was yet again (because we find so many), another nice occasion to go flash-crazy so here are some pics for you all to enjoy of the cutest addition to the Yang family. Some of the pics are grainy and I had to do some major light and color adjustments to them on photoshop but in the end, the subjects are still cute as ever so no worries right? right. =)

In good hands; baby and uncle.

Holiday splendor at South Coast Plaza

The mall is always a good place to go when you’re bored and don’t want to shop; you can go there for other reasons, I kid you not. I didn’t feel like shopping but I did feel like taking pictures and the mall had the perfect theme to shoot too. Aaah, the mall, an ideal beauty.

Stargazing =d

This Christmas tree looks magnificent reaching the equally attractive colored glass dome ceiling.

Inspiration for my ‘New Years look’

Jessica alba looking same-o same-o, very pulchritudinous. muahah….go and look up the word (because it’s quite fun to say as is the word booty) and use it on someone to bring them: first confusion, then doubt, and eventually a smile. =p

So anyways aside from giving zealous vocabulary lessons, I’ve also been trying to look for some dressy attire to wear for the big new years eve party…might just be a party in my pajamas but just in case we decide to ring in the new year in style I’d really like to emulate Jessica Alba’s glitterati look.

She looks polished and glamorous from head to hemline…her shoes are just there, meh, nothing special. Love everything else though but of course it’s Jessica Alba…she’s 99.9% perfection already so no use crying over ugly shoes.

Good Luck Chuck premiere,

They call themselves America’s forgotten soldiers

Guest blogger, Questy

I’m one of the lucky ones
Yes, I actually CAN talk about something OTHER than fandom once in a while =P (and sound intelligent while doing so? Maybe? XD)

New York Times article: Old U.S. allies, still hiding in Laos

I understand perfectly that a PROFESSIONAL article is meant to be objective and that the greatest journalist will present an article told from various points of view, providing FACTS and not OPINION. Objectively, this is a really good article. Each side is represented, even if some were only briefly. The content of the article elicits sympathy but doesn’t necessarily ASK for it. It could also elicit disbelief or skepticism in some. A good article will make people THINK.

But I can’t be objective about this stuff. This is MY people’s history. I was born in the mountains of Laos. Yes, I entered America as a refugee, but that doesn’t make me any LESS American. I even joke now that I’m probably more American than Hmong b/c, good god, don’t ask me to speak Hmong XD I’ll just embarrass myself (and have >_>).

Er. Anyway. I guess with all the bad press Hmong people have been getting lately in the news (at least in my area), it just pisses me off to see people question the honesty of those soldiers still hiding in Laos. Yes, I UNDERSTAND the integrity of objectivity, but in some cases, I actively ignore it. My father fought in the ’secret war’ and died in Laos. I will slap anyone who tries to tell me there was no ’secret war’. There are just some things I don’t tolerate and mostly it’s ignorance.

I guess it’s a good thing an article like this appeared in the NYtimes but… I’m not sure how much good it will do. As much of an optimist that I am, I’m also a realist… and wasn’t I just saying a while ago that my faith in mankind gets discouraged quite often? Bah. What more is there to say, really?

Frosted White Party Pictures

“The reason angels can fly is because they take themselves lightly.”
-G.K. Chesterton

My sister just posted pics from her Frosted White Winter party last weekend and I have to say I was wowed by the angelic and sexy costumes….all the ladies looked dazzling (don’t forget to thank your parents for the good genes girls) with the help of those stunning tiaras. I so have to borrow the one my sis is wearing…no occasion needed; I’ve been acting like a spoiled princess anyways…or so my bf says but what does he know. =p

I’m still on a christmas high

More Christmas cheer
I was over at my bf’s brother’s house this past weekend and they had their tree up so I had to get a picture of my favorite ornament on the tree, an elegant looking red patterned bauble. I love details; my eyes love to feast on them, not literally of course. Man, I am soo sad; our Christmas tree is mostly ready for the recycle bin already. =( It still looks nice all lit-up at nighttime tho, yay!

Also this weekend, I got to see their little chubby cheeks; he is so lovable….if only we could borrow babies like we borrow clothes, lol, I’ll return him when he stops being cute, promise! =p

So I finished wrapping gifts yesterday, I’m not the best gift-wrapper so I was looking online for some tips and found it at expertvillage.com Not only is Santa Claus a giving person but he’s also very helpful!…and a bit of a smart ass. =D

Party like a rockstar at the Playboy mansion

Ding dong ditch,
Not at the playboy mansion?! lol, as if he would dare with security guards everywhere! So anyways there wasn’t a tour going on at the playboy mansion, do not let the touristy attitude (”aw man, you have to get a picture of me in front of this,” his words exactly, lol) fool you,  my bf got invited to a playboy party by one of his buddies, lol, yeah he’s got some perverted friends…what can I say. =) He was hoping to bring home a blond but a goodie bag was just as fun to play with!

So when I asked him if he had anything to say about the experience,

Ty says: same thing you say every night
Ty says:“it was huuuuge”

LOL, no comment but a guy can dream can’t he?! ahah
