Is your personality ruining your relationship?

I read this article and it identifies 4 types of character traits that might doom a relationship.-msn article

The Pleaser

The Pleaser puts “we” before “me,” and has a “what’s mine is yours” philosophy with her spouse.

The One-Upper

The One-Upper is so named because she always takes an argument to the next level.

The Avoider

Avoiders tend to deny the existence of problems within their relationships, or they admit the existence of problems but only work on them on a surface level.

The Catastrophizer

The Catastrophizer tends to attribute all of her feelings and behaviors to her spouse, and she often refuses to take blame for anything.

Oh damn, I have one of those personalities! I’m always one for “agree to disagree” and have been told by the bf that I tend to avoid complicated situations, which is mostly true. I just don’t like to bother with unpleasant things but I have to say that I do make an effort to settle disagreements if they are with a family member or close friend.

“The healthiest relationships are those in which both partners feel free to be themselves and honest, authentic and respectful communication is valued above all else.”

Well said. The bf knows me, probably better than I know myself, and he loves me on my good and again after my ugly days. =D He is truly my best friend and a damn good one at that, which is why we keep trying.
