San Fernando Mission…and my mission to improve my photography

We made our way to the San Fernando Mission last weekend to attend the Latin Mass only to find out we were 3 years too late. lol. Unfortunately they haven't had one in a while, bummer. I would have really liked to experience it.
So we ended up taking pictures instead. I just have a few up that Babes took of me. I haven't gotten his approval to post my pics of him yet but I'll sneak a good one in so check back for updates.

I've realized after going through my pictures that I need UH LOT of practice still. I need to spend a full day or two just focusing on these points:

- Off-camera flash (indoor and outdoor) using SB-600 speedlight.
- Framing and composition, a quick video on it HERE. The rule of thirds is a great concept but applying it when I'm out shooting hasn't been as easy as I thought it would be. I wish my Nikon D40 had the option of using grid lines, like the D90 does.
- Getting the right exposure. I take way too much time finding the right exposure. Waay too much time; Babes almost fell asleep while I tried to get it to my liking.

I still love to reference Scott Kelby’s digital photography books every chance I get. Since it's helped me, I'll probably do a few posts on some of the techniques or tips I've picked up from the book. So yeah, I want to be a better pitcher-taker.
