Hi Everyone, my name is Tyger and I am the “geeky” counterpart of ;prettyGeeky =p. I’m hoping to contribute more to this blog going forward… sometimes with tech reviews, sometimes with photoblogs, other times with good old fashioned ranting… but most of the time just sharing my photogra-puberty experiences as I grow from a currently geeky adolescent n00b hobbyist photographer to an eventual “look at me”, i’m a photogapher can I join the club now? type of guy. (yes that was a run-on sentence.. and yes there will be lots more… I’ll try to proof read, but for the most part.. I just want to write as it comes out.
As always, please feel free to ask any questions, I will do my best to answer them while not offending you with my strange sense of humor
So here goes my first post:
I took the new Nikon D700 on our first date. We went to Balboa Park @ Van Nuys, CA to experience the Cherry blossoms which blooms only a few weeks out of the year. Quite the memorable experience.. my first outting with the D700.
She was a workout, not very light on my hands (nor my wallet) but coming from a D40 and D90 I definitely felt like I was with the hottest girl in school. I made sure to take good care of her, keeping her to my side the whole day… feeling good (but paranoid too) as bystanders gazed by.
To ease the pain, I used lightweight 35mm and 50mm prime lens on her (actually those are our only lens so far ahaha). With the prime lens the D700 felt very “usable” in my hand.. although towards the end of the day, I started feeling the strain of the lugging her around all day (just like with any other money hungry woman huh? *dodge*). Make no mistake, the D700 is a money hungry gal… just wait til she asks for accessories! I’ll make sure to post about that as we go shopping for them. *gulp*
Anyways, enough blah blah…. here are some sample pics from my first date with the beautiful D700.

P.S. I was just kidding about wanting to be a “look at me, i’m a photographer” type. I not really that kind of guy. True, I do want to learn as much as I can about photography… but the main reason I like this, is that I get to spend quality time with my 2 gals… the GF and the D700. =) So yeah.. i’m more the sappy kind of guy than the “look at me” show-off.

Yeah, I suppose it is. Although I hardly bother with it because it’s so fine and unmanageable…or so I want to believe but I am somewhat clueless when it comes to styling it so whatever. =p Ty loves goofy pictures of me. I’m too self-conscious for my own good so it’s great that he wants to show this side of me because I sure wouldn’t post some of these pictures of myself. muahah!

Thank you! I think it’s a great profession for me to go into since I’ve always loved photography. I’d be happy and enjoy my work so yes, I am considering making a business out of it in the future. =D
Ty took my pictures, he’s so much more patient than I am. I take a picture and I’m done. He takes a picture and keeps going at it until the sun goes down. I know I’m very lucky to have a man with such vigor. hehe

Congrats on your new Nikon D700. I can only imagine how heavy it is because my Nikon D300 + the Speedlight SB-800 weighs a ton. It’s keeping me from getting a steady shot because of it. hehe..
Anyway, love the cherry blossoms, and especially seeing the other side of you. Very cute! Anyway, I envy the nice weather you’re getting there. Here, we’re not quite into Spring yet; it’s still cold and everything is still so yellow.

Thank you! You’re right, it’s massive (in comparison) and we just ordered a zoom lens too so we can pretty much expect to have sore arms for a while. =/
We just got the tail end of the cherry blossom season – it was a spectacular sight, in any case- but at least now we know for next season! I visited the Midwest for a few weeks and after I got back, my poor body had to adjust again to the different climate and I got the first nose bleed of my life….and I broke out in a rash…and had a slight ear infection too, but I’m guessing you didn’t need to know all that. ahah
