Every afternoon on my drive home from work, I pass by this rocky area near the road and always say, “That’s a nice picture spot”. So during the 3day weekend, we decided to go out there and take some shots. This gave Her the perfect excuse to put on a dress she’s been waiting to wear for quite awhile now =p.
The weather was perfect (but still no clouds! darn!), she looked gorgeous in the dress… and I learned a valuable lesson: Never wear shorts in a photo shoot in itchy, weedy dry grass fields. I forgot to take a Behind The Scenes shot because it started to get dark, and we started hearing strange noises that spooked us. Here are some pictures below, doesn’t she look most magnanimous? lol (bonus points if you can guess that movie reference)

wow ty: love love the pictures of kay. you guys have really became professionals. wow, speechless. Makes me want to invest in a d700, but dam: my pockets are pretty light right now.. can wait for more postings!
Thanks Millie, the D700 is great, but the true performer of this set up was the simple 50mm prime lens. It is just a great lens… and not very expensive neither! BTW, Kay will be in MN this week for a shoot she’s doing. Call her up!
Ty
kudos on the last one…..love the whole concept and lighting, the sunset light is beautiful! and so is she!!
I love the 2nd pic!! I love her pose, the scenery, the dress…it all came together..LUV it!!!
Amazinnnnnnn! I didn’t know I could leave a comment till now lol. Love the dress and the scenery but Kay totally stole the show =)
I would’ve been able to take more pictures, but I was staring so much… felt like a gawking fan at a red carpet event. Yes, She’s gorgeous isn’t she? <3
Awesome photo. Beautiful shot!!!
I love the last pic of Kay. She’s gorgeous as always. Luv the view and pose…well, I love everything in that picture. Great job!
Absolutely gorgeous!
Oooh! Kay! This pitcures are awesome! You’re a good model and you look so gorgeous in this beautiful dress.
It could be a picture for a publicity of perfum! =) Good job!
I think the “you are most magnanimous” quote comes from “ever after” where the evil stepsister returns a “lost” necklace of the queen’s.
Samy,
You are correct! Ever After is one of Alldoneup’s fav movies. =)
my auntie kay is gorgeous too bad shes taken heheheh u losers…….well really here to stop by and say hi but u looking beautiful auntie and keep up the good work
newbie question. how did you setup the umbrella on the last photo? It looks amazing!!
Hi Z,
We used 2 umbrellas. The main one was set up at camera right, in front of the subject. The 2nd umbrella was used as an edge light; it was position camera left behind the subject.
Anytime you can create some kind of edge lighting… whether it’s from a speedlight or just good ole sunlight (best right before sunset)… it will create a nice separation from your subject and the background; this will make your subject stand out much more.
Wow! Loveeeeee it……you two rock photography! Oh, and great blog…itchy, strange noises, etc…lol!
