It’s that time of the year again, AWARD SEASON! And being that it’s red carpet madness time, I tend to always get a bit fashion feverish. It’s real and it’s serious. It’s where I go a little crazy with the dress shopping -although on a much, MUCH smaller scale than the designer dresses worn at these awards shows…eh, but I manage. All too well. Hopefully I get better soon. =d
As I was collecting pictures for this post, I didn’t feel as wildly excited as I was about last year’s dresses. There were two exceptions though! The first was Drew Barrymore in Atelier Versace. I couldn’t decide if the embellishments on her shoulder and hip looked more like fiber optic lights or some type of sea anemone but it’s rather intriguing and she looked sensational in it I thought! Another one I really admired for its stunning construction was Jennifer Carpenter’s burgundy Basil Soda gown, beautiful pleated detailing and color! I am indebted to designers for producing such lovely eye candy!
So it wasn’t a spectacular night in terms of wow factor for me but let’s not forget that a boring dress can always be made better by adding accessories! I loved these pieces pictured below in particular! Each helped to achieve the right look whether it be whimsical, refined, edgy, traditional, etc. I think jewelry was my first love; I use to work in retail and I would take my lunch breaks in the jewelry department…needless to say, that’s where all my paychecks went…but it made me happy and being happy sometimes means having a lot of pretty junk. =/
Anyways, enjoy the MEGA post and I’d love to hear which dress was your favorite(s)! My next fashion post will be on the 2010 SAG Awards so check back for it!

I agree that last year was much much better.
Wow, you have a good eye for fashion, Kay. I’ve never really bothered to look at the details before.
Hi Julie!
Yeah, I’m bizarre like that…I’m like a gay man, nothing is left unnoticed if it’s attractive in some way, shape, or form. =/
i would have to agree too. last years was much better. this year’s was filled with slinky, over embellished frocks. Jane Krukowski’s is my fave dress and look… simple, classy, and elegant. although christina aguilera’s new soft and subtle look (makeup, that is) was very pretty as well. and what is up with jennifer garner? she looks so pale, withered, and so much older, ick! and as for drew barrymore, the dress is very lovely, minus the odd anemone-like add-ons… most especially in the hip area. another noteworthy look was lea michelle in her oscar de la renta gown… also very demure and polished.
Hi Mary!
Can you believe I almost left Jane Krukowski out because her pictures weren’t as readily available? Good thing I came across it though because I think she has never looked better! You are so right about Jennifer Garner…time to get a new stylist! I liked Lea Michelle’s dress but all that black was beginning to get depressing, plus…I liked the dress but not so much her in it. ahah
OMG!!!!! i freakin’ love Camille Belle’s dress, and Christina Aguilera’s makeup! just beautiful
I loved loved the color of Emily Blunt’s dress! Though you don’t have a picture of it, I loved the little strip of black satin January Jones donned on her hair. It added a slight touch of elegance to her look.
OT: I laughed out loud at your t-shirt line comment.
Isn’t Jennifer Garner’s stylist Zoe? Don’t ask me how I know this stuff… She was probably starving when she did Jennifer up. =/
Hi Tyger <3
I would kill to know (not really) BUT I do know that Rachel Zoe did dress her for the 2008 Oscars in which she made my favorites list…I feel like having a banana all of a sudden. mmm
