PrettyGeeky is proud and happy to present our very first contest of the year. Because of a very special bride, a dear friend with a very generous heart, we are able to offer a wonderful wedding dress giveaway. Alice’s wedding was one of many we attended last year, but for me it was the most heartfelt. It was a very emotional and moving wedding. As one of her wishes before moving off to beautiful Taiwan, she asked for me to pass it along to someone who would love it as much as she did. We thought to ourselves, what best way to do that than to host a contest!
Read through for dress details, pictures and contest rules.
Dress Details:
This size 6 Maggie Sottero gown was one of two bridal gowns that Alice wore on her special wedding day. The corset style dress helps create the illusion of crazy luscious curves; it looks sensational on all shapes and sizes! The lace-up back gives the option to either breathe easily or whittle in that waistline… and forgo dessert ;p. It has a fabulous cascading train and will make any girl feel like they’ve fallen into a fairytale story in this stylish wedding dress. A lovely beaded veil will also be included. This dress has only been worn twice (once for the wedding, and once for a PrettyGeeky bridal photo shoot)… it is still in very good condition.
Contest Rules:
To win this contest, you must follow these easy guidelines.
- Create a post about the contest in your blog (popular free blogs: Wordpress, Blogger, Livejournal,
myspace, facebook… or any other blog). - Specifically title that blog entry: “PrettyGeeky.com’s wedding dress giveaway: Why I should win”.
- Important: Within that post, you must create a link back to this contest post.
- Also, in that post tell us why you would like to win this wedding dress. It can be any reason, emotional, financial, or even a creative reason why. If the reason is too personal, you may alternatively use the Online Entry Form to submit your reason. However, you must still create a post on your blog to satisfy all the requirements.
- Then, in the comment section below. Write a comment and provide the link to your post, so that we are able to read it.
Please note: When you write the comment below, make sure to include your Name and a valid e-mail so we can contact you if you win. (don’t worry, we will never spam your email). Also, make sure that your blog entry is viewable by everyone (not private).
Contest Updates:
- We’ve been having problems viewing Myspace “blogs”. Please use one of the other free blogging services (Wordpress, Blogger, Livejournal are the common ones)
- Added the new Online Entry Form. FAQ: Getting married is not a requirement. Anyone is eligible to win, man or woman. Yours just has to be a true reason.
Contest Deadline:
End of this month. 11:59PM Sunday, Feb. 28th, 2010. (PST Los Angeles time)
Contest Winner:
From the pool of entries, the lucky winner will be selected by Alice (dress owner) and Alldoneup (PrettyGeeky Kay). The Winner will be posted on this site 1 week after the contest deadline. We will ship the dress (US only, sorry) to the winner.
So there you have it! Tell all your friends and family. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask us below. Good luck to all of you.

Hi Ying and Julie!
Not necessarily, we mentioned above in the contest rules, “In that post, tell us why you would like to win this wedding dress. It can be any reason, emotional, financial, or even a creative reason why” so just as long as you have a true reason…like I always do -because I’m a girl and I like dresses and lots of them, ok?! Now I wants the precious! ahah. Although that rarely works. =/
Can you nominate someone?

Some of the comments posted regarding the reason why some of these girls should win is absolute ridiculous. My dog got a better reason and I don’t even have a dog. Come on people, this dress was meant for one lucky bride to be who because of financial or unique life circumstances could use a free wedding dress for their special day. The intend was to help those truely in need and that those whose only consumed with greed.
Best Wishes to everyone who has entered to win my wedding gown. Thank you for sharing your thoughtful comments and reasons why you should win. Although I would love to be able to give all who applied a gown, unfortunately only one special person will win.
Before a decision is made, I wanted to share the reasons why I chose to give away my dress in the first place. Every girl has a dream that their wedding day would be perfect and that all their close family and friends would be there to help celebrate the beginning of their lives as husband and wife. And as June 27th quickly approached, everything seemed just right. However, on June 13th, we recevied an unexpected phone call that changed our lives forever. My father had collapsed of a brain aneurysm and the hospital was not sure whether or not he was going to make it. The flight to Taiwan was agonizing and the thought of losing my father 13 days before my wedding was heartbreaking. At that moment, the most important thing in my life was to be by my father’s bedside and I came very close to calling off my wedding. With the loving support of my family and friends like Ty and Kay, they reassured me that they would take care of the rest of my wedding arrangements. Reluctant to leave my father’s side, I returned home 2 days before my wedding with a very heavy heart.
It was an emotional affair as we announced during our reception luncheon that my husband and I would be moving to Taiwan to take care of my father. We had one week to pack everything up and move across the Pacific Ocean. Three weeks after returning to Taiwan, my father passed away from complications. We’ve had to make many sacrifices but nothing matters more than spending time with the ones that you love. Unfortunately, I was not able to take my dresses with me so with the help of Ty and Kay, I wanted to give one of my dresses away to a bride who was in need or experiencing difficulty in her life. I know that my special day would not of been possible without the support of others and I, in turn, wanted to show support to someone else in my father’s honor, since he was the most kind and generous person I know.
So I hope that whomever wins this dress will cherish this gift and feel supported in their time of need.
