We were last minute guests at the wedding of Ange and Patela and were thrilled they were kind enough to let us join in the celebration. The wedding was full of beautiful details and friends and family came from all over the world (the groom’s parents flew in from France!) to see the happy couple tie the knot. The ceremony was short and sweet and then it was onto the reception for a night of entertainment from some talented members of the family…including a saxophonist, which was my personal favorite. It was a wonderful experience-I love observing special moments like these-and wish the bride and groom tremendous joy and prosperity as they start their lives together.
Of course we can’t have a wedding post without a few pictures so click through for some snapshots of the wedding and a whole lot of picture whoring! =p

I’m up way too late but I get to post the first comment. Yay for me!! I love that color green. My favorite! The girls look so pretty but where are you Kay?? Very nice indeed. Have not been to a wedding for awhile. Hopefully we’ll be attending one soon.
YAY! I’m definitely spreading this link
Thanks for sharing the lovely photos, and what a beautiful wedding is was! However, I’d have to agree that the bride should’ve left her train down. I, too like dramatic trains.
On the other hand, we know Jerry and his family. They’re related to my hubby and we call Jerry’s dad Yawg Hawj. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen their family but my hubby was in OR this past year for their grandma’s funeral. What a small world!
Awe…makes me want to get married again…to the same guy of course ;P I love weddings!
Beautiful wedding! Love the colors, green and hot pink is one of my favorites!
i’m seeing more and more weddings these days americanize. so cute
told my daughter sinces shes they only one she’ll get one after collage LOL
i have to say, i’ve been inspired by your site/blog. i love the photos and especially the BTS shots. great site and i’ve learned a lot, not to mention the beautiful pictures.
with my endless struggles with lighting, i was wondering how the ceremony aisle photos were shot. zoom lens? was this with flash or just available light? any diffusers on the flash? i’m assuming the reception pics were done with on camera flash?
thanks!
@Jou
Thanks for stopping by and leaving such nice words, we really appreciate it. For the most part we try to stay out of the way of the hired photographers; so we snap when the opportunity comes. We’re just glad to be able to get a few closeups of the beautiful bride. =) The bride’s gown and her bridesmaids’ dresses are half the reasons why Kay enjoys weddings so much ;p.
Anyways, about the lighting, the aisle shots were all natural light. One wall of the room was practically all windows, it provided gorgeous lighting… very rare for indoor weddings. The reception photos were taken with a speedlight attached to the camera. The speedlight was aimed up and away to get a little bit of directional light…. it was strapped with a homemade black foamy reflector to bounce a little bit of light back to the subjects. When taking indoor shots, we try to avoid direct flash as much as possible.
Hope these answers help with your lighting challenges. Feel free to drop us questions anytime. =)
