We looked outside… and it was snowing! The first full snowfall… and even though it was 1AM in the morning… it didn’t stop us! Shoot anytime, anywhere right? Just had to share this quick snapshot taken under available bare streetlamp lighting. Go out and have fun, don’t let a little bad weather get in the way!
… yes, we couldn’t resist! We just had to try out the Lensbaby Edge 80 lens just to see what kind of bokeh it’d create as it slices up the falling snow! (horrible grammar I know) We took out a few speedlights and set them up in the front lawn: one for main, the other for rim. The bright orange light in the background is the street lamp lol.

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously love it! I can not….I repeat CAN NOT wait til you two come back! My head is just twisting and turning in every direction looking at this! You two can make any place/location good! Pretty Geeky does works wonder. I hate you two! We have a love and hate realationship haha…..just kidding.:P
Btw 1am in the morning! You two hardly sleep like me lol. And man this year seems like you all had more snow then us in the midwest.:)
Yes, we are such night owls…on the upside, my freckles are fading, yay! ahah
very magical indeed!
Thank you Jennie!! We thought so too! Sort of looks like I was inside a snow globe in that second picture, neato! =p
aww how lucky!! wish we had snow falling here too! beautiful snow flakes shots! love the coat kay! ^_^
Thanks Cynthia! Yes, I know what you mean…I never missed the snow until I moved to CA. =p The coat was from H&M on sale!! I love winter clearance racks! =D
Who cares about the snow…How the heck does Kay manage to still look BOOTIFUL at 1 in the morning?!
LOL, it’s the “pretty face” ….gotta have it on otherwise it’s normally the “geeky face”
do you guys photoshop the very cool blurry bits (bokeh) of your photo?? Or does your lens or your D700 does the job already??
@Dominick
The super creative lens blur is straight from the camera using the specialty lens: Lensbaby Edge 80. We always try to capture our photos by “getting it right” in the camera instead of using photoshop after the fact. It’s a definite time saver and the depth of field blur that a lens creates is very organic and 3D looking vs a simulated lens blur in photoshop. We’ll release a review on the Lensbaby Edge 80 soon. If you plan to purchase the Edge 80, remember you can’t use the lens without a camera adapter like: the Lensbaby Composer Pro
Kay & Ty- i don’t know if i’m more inlove with these photos or the love and passion you both have for photography…hehe awesome photos!
Awww, thanks Milly. Update your blog woman! =) If I haven’t said it already, we are big fans of yours and always look forward to seeing your beautiful work.
its beautiful….. never made it during winter to get a shot like this, maybe next year…
It’s only March though…there’s still hope for another snowfall before winter is over. =D Do the snow dance, similar to the rain dance but not as fun as the happy dance. =p
Kay you are still so beautiful at 1am!!! That is what’s more amazing than the snow! LOL. Beautiful pictures as always.

Ok, now this makes me excited for it to be WINTER again, hahah… and we’re not even officially summer yet.
