]]> The Chinese have such poetic names for their cultural relics. We visited the Temple of Heaven on one of our last days in Beijing. It was a very picturesque museum, though not at the same level as the Great Wall. But, being the picture whores that we are, we managed to grab lots of shots. =) The Temple of Heaven is really a group of many buildings of worship, not just one big temple. It is surrounded by a public park… one that is full of elderly locals. It was nice to see so many people get together in one place just to: relax, play cards, tai chi, hacky sack, sword play!, dance…

We found this father and son inside the temple grounds Kay along one of the many beautifully carved stone walls It's known that the camera adds 10lbs to my cheeks Kelvin along the walls. There were many of these smaller buildings of worship all around the larger temples Kay couldnt stand Kelvins untied shoe laces. Talk about OCD huh? Look at all the heavenly clouds. I loved the mosaic stone wall, it made a perfect backdrop for a photo of Kay Here's me on the same wall Full body shots never looked so good. oh yeah! Temple grounds were surrounded by these rich green roofed walls. Here's Kay by one of the ornamented cornerstones. Another one, reminds me of Bruce Lee movies? Some buildings were guarded by the secret MIY: Men in Yellow In between larger temples were walkways that went under corridors like this one. We were trying to find the famous Hall of Echoes All we found were estinky stuff Here's a nice shot of Kay. (tech note: set your Aperture to it's lowest f-stop number will get you this blurry effect) finally at the Hall of Echoes. One person can hear the other person clear on the other side of the arched wall. Kz and Kay inside the Hall of Echoes Hi Hi Internal walls had carved elephant heads. Seemed like they spit out water at one point in time. Be careful of the tree gods Long row of lamp posts make perfect backdrops. My turn to rub the lamp posts! She's standing on something. ]]> A little history, Beijing used to be called Peking (I think Peking is what some European guy wrote down when the Chinese locals kept saying Beijing! Beijing! .. oh? Peking?) Anyways.. you know what they say: When in Rome, act like the Romans… when in Beijing.. eat Beijing duck (must eat at Da Dong restaurant). It’s something you must do if it’s the only thing you do in Beijing. Well, OK you should visit the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace too.

The movie is about an Asian American reluctant to touch base with his roots until he visits Shanghai. ]]> We’ll be flying out to visit the motherland in a few weeks! I can’t wait to take some (hopefully) nice shots of the Great Wall, Forbidden City and Olympic village. Kay and I will be flying out with a friend of ours who’s been to China multiple times already.

Our itinerary so far is to fly from Los Angeles to Taiwan on Oct. 24th… then to Shanghai, then Beijing, then back to Taiwan… and then finally back home on Nov. 10th; luckily we have friends in both Taiwan and Shanghai to show us around!

Will keep you guys updated with nice pics as we travel. Can’t wait!
