A yard full of roses

A landscaping favorite.

Iceberg roses are beautiful when they are just blooming and in cool weather they turn from stark white to blushing pink, that was a delightful surprise! It’s a good thing they don’t need a lot of tending to since I haven’t a green thumb like my mother, who can nurture and grow most everything.

I took these pictures back in February.

If you missed the first post, go HERE to take a look! She is totally my muse and I am so grateful to have her pretty looks to work with, thanks again Sue! The bf says I need to work on “framing”….will do donkey, will do.

I couldn’t decide which version I liked better so I posted both.

Summer dress sequel

The bf lost his cell phone during this outing, it was an expensive phone too -why that is and why he’d want one is beyond me but I guess that’s what guys like to splurge on, electronics. We furnish our closets and they furnish the entertainment room? Sounds fair enough I suppose.

Anyways, of all the people in the world, why couldn’t someone with a conscious have found it? Oh well, someone has a nice phone…with me in their fave five.

A few more pictures from this post.

The pretty side of Dos Lagos.

Pictures from Sue’s photo shoot

The lovely Sue.

“What’s simple is true”

This past weekend I decided to harass my friend Sue to model for me so I could better acquaint myself with the camera that launched a thousand pictures because it’s so fun at first -you’re clicking away, thinking your pictures are good enough to win the “that’s good!” award….that is until you realize, what you see when taking the picture is not always what you get. =/

That being said, my little test session this weekend went very well and it was UH LOT of fun. We used Sue’s little boy as reflectorman boy but we’ll need to get someone with a little more stamina next time, he pleaded for breaks after every click of the camera. lol

I love wedding photography so I guess that was my theme when I brought out the white dress to shoot Sue in, not literally of course. I had this dress for a while and was waiting for the perfect time to use it….thanks Sue for wearing it so beautifully!

She is such a hot mama!

Smile, it’s Friday!

“Whatta Face!”

(Giving me a cute smirk while crawling by)

I can’t wait to see him wobbling around on his own two feet soon.

Last weekend I was told his first teeth were coming in, how exciting! On the other hand, maybe not. Some children are little animals, they love to bite! If only they weren’t so cute I would have learned my lesson by now but time and time again they lure me in with their adorably innocent faces and tiny outstretched hands…Oh they’re good, the little monsters!

Hummingbird watching

I can’t believe my boyfriend and I spent over half an hour staring (and snapping away with the camera) in fixed fascination at a little hummingbird who remarkably enough, sat nonchalantly atop it’s perch the entire time, the little attention-whore!

Drawn to the red blossoms of the tree, most of them were busily feasting. They were so cute, as was the bf who couldn’t keep his eyes off his model bird.

We were secret admirers of this placid hummingbird.

“You’re beautiful, it’s true”

Aaaah the simple joys in life, it’s great to have someone to share them with. =)

The Huntington Desert Garden

A few pictures from the Desert Garden at the Huntington. There were so many varieties of cacti and succulent plants, I found myself admiring their unconventional beauty and unique qualities.

Take for instance, this delightful cactus…

The Huntington Gardens

After seeing what The Huntington had to offer, I enthusiastically declare my love of the place! I thoroughly enjoyed what each garden had to offer in lush vegetation and marvelous (Japanese and Chinese) architecture. It’s an ideal place to experience natural & cultural beauty and variety.

Three hours in and we still had to rush to get to the art gallery before closing time.

“Luxurious feast awaits”

I can’t say enough about the beautiful art collection they have at the Huntington, timeless and extraordinary works of art. Also, it’s always interesting reading the story or history behind a painting if there is one.

Mission San Juan Capistrano

We took a trip to the San Juan Capistrano Mission this past weekend and I was impressed and astonished by it’s history and architecture. It’s a lovely place to visit if you have time…and a camera (being that it’s surrounded by beautiful gardens and historic ruins and all that good stuff). To read about it’s history go to sjchistoricalsociety.com

Enjoy the plentiful pictures!

The Serra Chapel.

Construction of Mission San Juan Capistano, “Jewel of the Missions”, began in November 1776. Father Junipero Serra named it for St. John of Capestrano in Italy, a warrior priest of the 15th century. This is the seventh in the chain of missions founded by Father Serra.

Flower lovers paradise

We visited the Carlsbad Flower Fields this weekend and what a spectacular array of flowerage, I was riveted by their colorful display!

Ranunculus in bloom
They grow millions of these flowers to harvest the ranunculus bulbs. I felt like running through the fields and picking a bouquet full of them but I contained myself, barely. =d
